Job Description Summary

This position provides operational and organizational leadership to the Penn Multiple Sclerosis and Related Disorders Research Program. The candidate will build and oversee all operational aspects of the Research Program. Ensures consistent application of policies, procedures, and practices across all research-related initiatives. The candidate will oversee industry-sponsored, federally-funded and Penn investigator-initiated projects.

This position is responsible for the strategic direction, development, and implementation of processes within the Penn Multiple Sclerosis and Related Disorders Research Program and supports the research mission of the Center for Neuroinflammation and Neurotherapeutics at Penn Medicine.

Job Description

Responsibilities: This is a hybrid-eligible position. Plans, builds, and manages operational aspects of the research program. Develops and implements standard operating procedures (SOPs), manuals of procedures (MoPs), and staff trainings. Leads research team staff meetings. Assists in the strategic direction of the research program, including assisting Investigators in selection of industry-funded and federally-funded projects and ensuring adequate resource allocation. Oversees start-up processes for clinical research. Develops and manages study budgets. Provides supervision and management of the clinical research team, including hiring, orientation and ongoing training, workloads, assignments, staffing, and performance evaluation and management. Oversees management of Investigator-Initiated research projects originating within the division, including providing direct regulatory and operational management of multi-site clinical trials for which Penn serves as the lead center and central lab. Work closely with PIs, the business office, and clinical trials finance teams to manage clinical
