As a Senior Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Deposits Technology team, you lead multiple technical areas, manage the activities of multiple departments, and collaborate across technical domains. Your expertise is applied cross-functionally to drive the adoption and implementation of technical methods within various teams and aid the firm in remaining at the forefront of industry trends, best practices, and technological advances.
Job Responsibilities
- Primarily responsible for managing agile software delivery teams and partnering with Product partners to drive technology delivery.
- Delivers solutions leveraging modern technologies including cloud-backed APIs and microservices utilizing distributed database technologies.
- Possesses a strong talent assessment and talent management background.
- Responsible for all aspects of technology delivery.
- Builds a diverse and inclusive team and culture within the organization.
- Provides leadership and high-level direction to teams while frequently overseeing employee populations across multiple areas.
- Acts as the primary interface with senior leaders, stakeholders, and executives, driving consensus across competing objectives.
- Manages multiple stakeholders, complex projects, and large cross-product collaborations.
- Influences peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams.
- Champions the firm’s culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience. In addition, 5+ year of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise and more broadly across the organization.
- Experience developing or leading large or cross-functional teams of technologists
- Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals.
- Experience with developing and managing large scale platforms with strong understanding of complex distributed systems running on hybrid infrastructure (on premises, private and private cloud environments)
- Deep expertise building and operating large scale high performance transactional environments with distributed systems and cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.)
- Deep expertise with enterprise design patterns and industry best practices with experience using modern technology (e.g., Java, Cassandra, Kafka) and design patterns (e.g., micro services, APIs).
- Experience with building, leading and mentoring technology teams and next level leaders within the organization.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, agile environment leading/working with geographically distributed teams.
- Experience with implementing industry standard cybersecurity & technology controls.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to present to and communicate effectively with key stakeholders across product, technology, data and design
- Strong organizational and management skills.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience with core banking systems, in particular deposit systems
