Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer that will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our cloud infrastructure. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect scalable and secure cloud solutions, optimize system performance, and drive continuous improvement.

 

The ideal candidate should have a strong technical background in cloud technologies, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality solutions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (Other duties may be assigned):

• Design, deploy, and manage cloud-based infrastructure and services, ensuring scalability, availability, and security.
• Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to architect and implement efficient and reliable cloud solutions.
• Optimize cloud resource utilization, monitor system performance, and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal performance and cost-effectiveness.
• Implement automation and infrastructure-as-code practices to streamline deployments, provisioning, and configuration management.
• Evaluate and recommend cloud services, tools, and technologies to improve efficiency and enhance system capabilities.
• Work with the audit and compliance team to ensure SOX compliance.
• Assist the security team with developing and enforcing cloud security best practices, including access controls, encryption, and vulnerability management.
• Provide technical guidance to WaFd information technology colleagues.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in cloud computing.
• Adherence to bank policies and procedures designed to comply with Federal regulations, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act and OFAC regulations.

Qualifications

Education/Skills/Training:

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate
• HashiCorp Certified Terraform Associate
• Ability to work independently and exercise independent judgment and decision making.
• Strong documentation skills and ability to work in fast paced environments.
• Ability to assist internal and external customers in a personable and professional manner.

Experience:

• 4-5 years of experience as a Cloud Engineer or in a similar role.
• 4-5 years of experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell).
• In-depth knowledge of cloud computing platforms such as AWS.
• Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
• Strong understanding of networking principles, security best practices, and data management in cloud environments.
• Strong understanding of cloud architecture principles including serverless computing, SaaS implementation and best practices for building scalable and resilient cloud applications.
• Experience with cloud security best practices, including identity and access management (IAM), encryption, SOX compliance and network security.
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools for cloud-based infrastructure such as Splunk.
• Experience with configuring, deploying, and maintaining Active Directory services, including group policies, user accounts, and domain controllers.
• Understanding of security best practices for Windows Server environments.
• Knowledge of Windows Server backup and disaster recovery solutions to ensure data protection and business continuity.
