Senior Java Software Engineer/DevOps

What does a successful Senior Java Software Engineer/DevOps do at Fiserv?

Join a team that owns and operates the mission-critical infrastructure powering Fiserv’s payments platform. We are 100% accountable for the availability, scalability, and performance of systems that sit directly in the critical path of platform uptime. We're seeking a Java Development engineer with deep experience in building CI/CD platforms, Kubernetes deployment architecture, and containerized microservice design.

What You Will Do:

• Design, build, and operate a next-gen, GitOps-driven CI/CD platform that powers Kubernetes-based application delivery at scale.
• Architect and optimize containerized applications and Kubernetes deployments to ensure high performance, resiliency, and scalability.
• Own the full lifecycle of deployment automation, enabling rapid, secure, and observable software delivery across environments.
• Manage and evolve secrets management infrastructure using HashiCorp Vault, tightly integrated into our delivery pipelines.
• Customize and support Identity Access Management (IAM) systems like Keycloak, PingOne, and Twilio to secure critical services.
• Develop and maintain encryption microservices in Java/Spring Boot that enforce enterprise-grade data protection.
• Automate provisioning and scaling of enterprise messaging platforms (AMQP/MQTT) supporting an event-driven architecture.
• Collaborate with a high-performing team to deliver resilient infrastructure using tools like GitLab, ArgoCD, and Kargo in an Agile environment.

What you will need to have:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience, education, or military background.
• 6+ years of experience designing, developing, delivering, and supporting software applications.
• 6+ years of experience with modern programming and scripting languages (Java/Spring Boot preferred).
• Strengths in containerized application design and K8S (Kubernetes) deployment design.
• Hands-on experience creating and running CI/CD platform.
• Experience delivering and maintaining web-scale, high-availability, public-facing transactional applications.
• Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools like Ansible or Terraform.
• Strong ability to present and defend architectures, designs, and technologies to senior technical peers and leadership.

What would be great to have:

• Strong application development background with Kubernetes experience.
• Payments industry or fintech experience.
• Experience delivering Java/Spring Boot/Linux applications.
• Expertise in crafting and optimizing multi-environment Helm Charts.
• Experience with creating CICD workflows with Gitlab, ArgoCD, Kargo.
• Experience with Keycloak, PingOne, Twilio.
• Deep understanding of OpenID Connect and functional understanding of SAML.
