About the role

Overview

 

We are seeking to fill the role of Sr. Director Portfolio Analyst for Mission Servicing Residential. The ideal candidate possesses strong expertise in financial engineering, including cash flow modeling, OAS valuation and duration/convexity analysis. A solid understanding of statistical modelling, such as prepayment analysis and interest rate modeling, is essential. Furthermore, a strong foundation in fixed-income modeling and investments in general is highly desirable.

 

The Portfolio Management Team is responsible for the development and implementation of investment strategies in the residential mortgage sector with a focus on Mortgage Servicing Rights (MSR). We are looking for a Sr Director to join our growing team and influence investment and hedging decision making through financial modeling and statistical analysis. The Sr. Director Portfolio Analyst will contribute to investment portfolio and business performance analytics, pricing strategies, and interest rate risk hedging for MSR and other mortgage related assets.

Responsibilities

• Manage monthly/quarterly business performance reporting suite by utilizing Excel, VBA, Bloomberg and SQL. Conduct attribution analysis on business performance (e.g. volume, pricing, P&L, etc.). Identify key performance drivers for month-over-month changes. • Maintain pricing for MSR flow acquisition by running MSR valuations. Provide technical support to Transaction Management and/or external seller partners on pricing reconciliation and monthly settlement. • Conduct MSR flow pricing elasticity and competitiveness analysis. Make recommendations on optimal pricing strategies. Implement pricing updates when necessary. • Assist in the development and implementation of interest rate risk hedging strategies. Monitor market movements and hedge performance on a daily basis. Attribute P&L and identify rebalancing opportunities. • Evaluate MSR bulk acquisition opportunities. Maintain MSR valuation assumptions. Make suggestions on assumption changes based on new developments in the mortgage market. • Generate month-end position data tapes and conduct data audits by running SQL. • Collaborate with Business Intelligence team to continuously automate the current processes by improved design and by leveraging programing languages such as VBA and python. • Run back-testing on statistical models (i.e. interest rate and prepayment models), regularly monitor model performance and identify new trends. Make tuning adjustments when necessary. • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Strong academic background in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, engineering, physics or economics. • Excellent knowledge of fixed-income investments and interest rate derivatives. • Programming skills e.g. Excel, VBA, SQL, Python. • Strong problem-solving skills, including ability to formulate solutions to non-routine problems. • Self-motivated and capable of working independently. • Strong attention to detail. • A demonstrated and proven ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced deadline- driven and constantly changing environment.

 

Desired Skills and Qualifications • Master’s degree with at least 2 years or bachelor's degree with at least 4 years of related experience. • Experience in prepay/default risk modeling, term structure modeling, OAS valuation and relative value analysis. • Experience in Vendor models e.g. Polypaths, MIAC WinOAS, AD&Co, QRM. • Experience using market data and trading platforms such as Bloomberg, Reuters, or TradeWeb. • Superior oral and written skills, and ability to communicate complex information effectively.
