Job Description

Job Summary: 

The Warehouse Lead is responsible for overseeing a variety of functions within the distribution center/warehouse such as receiving, stocking, loading and unloading merchandise as well as picking and operating heavy-duty equipment like pallet jacks or forklifts. The Lead is also responsible for on-the-job training of more junior warehouse staff. 2nd shift: 2:30pm - 11pm Monday through Friday. Pay rates from 22/hr PLUS $1.30 shift differential.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists Distribution Center Manager with assigning tasks as needed.
  • Uses bar code/scan gun system to perform job duties including picking orders, preparing orders for shipment, receiving inventory.
  • Load and/or unload trucks and tankers which includes raw materials, finished goods, outsourced goods; move/spot trailers as needed. 
  • Pick and prepare orders for shipment; print orders; confirms orders, match back order with new orders.
  • Maintain accuracy and quality of all orders being shipped.
  • Receiving duties, including check/verify incoming shipments against correct packing lists.  Investigates and corrects receiving issues.
  • Schedules T/L outbound service.  Coordinate carrier paperwork/equipment, bills of lading, picking tickets. Completes Canadian export shipment documentation as needed.
  • Transport raw and finished goods within plant/warehouse.
  • Prepares UPS and sample shipments as needed.
  • Take samples of incoming materials to lab for Quality Control approval, clear product from inspection.
  • Understand HazMat rules and regulations.
  • Perform and/or oversee cycle inventory counts.
  • Enter data into computer as required, including:  receiving inquiries, labels, UPS, ship confirmations, allocation information.
  • Prepares reports as needed, including daily ship report, 30-day back order report, 6-month weight report, month end reports.
  • Moves trailers in yard; moves trucks, closes trucks.
  • Repair / Repack damaged product as required.
  • Perform and record preventive maintenance each shift on tow motors, including:  checking fluids, hydraulics, etc. and daily operation/safety procedures.
  • Follows all Company safety procedures, safe work and good housekeeping practices, including 5S.
  • Participates in and supports the Company’s Continuous Improvement programs.
  • Assists with Employee forklift and warehouse training as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum age 18 and have valid driver’s license.
  • Minimum four (4) years’ work experience in a distribution environment or equivalent combination of education or training beyond high school level.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Must have demonstrated leadership skills or proven leadership experience. 
  • Must have tow motor experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • Must be able to read and write English; must understand both written and oral instructions and directions.
  • Must be PC/Computer literate and/or have ability to use bar code/scan gun systems.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • CDL license preferred; or ability to obtain promptly upon hire.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol screening.
  • Must pass tow motoring training and acquire certification for tow motor operation; must be able to wear seat belts on tow motors.
  • Must pass HazMat training.
