About this role

The Field Service Technician is an experienced HVAC service professional who works independently to diagnose, service, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC and chiller systems. This role requires broad technical expertise, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to analyze non‑routine system issues while delivering high‑quality customer service in the field.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled and emergency service, maintenance, and repairs on commercial HVAC, refrigeration, and chiller equipment.

  • Independently diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and control system issues.

  • Interpret drawings, schematics, and technical manuals to resolve equipment problems.

  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and document findings accurately.

  • Identify additional repair or improvement opportunities and communicate recommendations to customers and management.

  • Complete work orders, service documentation, and reports using mobile technology.

  • Comply with all safety policies, including LOTO, fall protection, PPE, and site‑specific requirements.

  • Maintain company vehicle, tools, and provided equipment in safe working condition.

  • Support less‑experienced technicians through informal guidance and technical assistance when needed.

  • Maintain a professional appearance and represent the company positively with customers.

  • Participate in on‑call rotation as required.

 

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • 5+ years of commercial HVAC field service experience.

  • 2 years of working knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration cycles, and electrical components.

  • Capable of climbing ladders or using other lift equipment over 8 feet above grade and capable of lifting items up to 50lbs.

  • Valid and current Driver’s License and can be insurable by the company’s insurance.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical certification or formal HVAC training.

  • Experience servicing chillers and large commercial systems.

  • EPA Universal Certification.

  • Prior experience working directly with commercial customers.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to analyze non‑routine problems and develop effective solutions.

  • Proficiency with electronic work orders and mobile service platforms.
