Job Description Summary
The Lead Nuclear Fuel Mechanical Design Engineer - Will be responsible for the mechanical design, development, and analysis of nuclear fuel products. This role requires collaboration with sourcing, fabrication and quality, thermal-mechanical analysts, material scientists, fuel experts, and nuclear/thermal-hydraulic analysis engineers to assure product perform within licensed and GNF performance expectations in a fast-paced environment.This position is based at our headquarters in Wilmington, NC. Must be willing to relocate (relocation assistance provided) if not already local.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
- Create mechanical design solutions to support the development of new products & design modifications to improve existing products
- Understand the fabrication processes for component and assemblies, the post fabrication transportation and handling and the customer application requirements for fuel products and services
- Prepare drawings and specifications for new and existing fuel designs
- Identify, document and lead the resolution of technical risks within each project
- Provide well written, well organized documented engineering analyses to assure design adequacy
- Perform design reviews and production readiness reviews
- Address emergent customer and manufacturing issues
- Work closely with sourcing and manufacturing to support cost reduction activities
- Design test procedures and perform testing to address component and assembly adequacy
- Develop procedures and work to improve engineering productivity
