Job Description Summary

The Lead Nuclear Fuel Mechanical Design Engineer - Will be responsible for the mechanical design, development, and analysis of nuclear fuel products. This role requires collaboration with sourcing, fabrication and quality, thermal-mechanical analysts, material scientists, fuel experts, and nuclear/thermal-hydraulic analysis engineers to assure product perform within licensed and GNF performance expectations in a fast-paced environment.

This position is based at our headquarters in Wilmington, NC. Must be willing to relocate (relocation assistance provided) if not already local.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

• Create mechanical design solutions to support the development of new products & design modifications to improve existing products
• Understand the fabrication processes for component and assemblies, the post fabrication transportation and handling and the customer application requirements for fuel products and services
• Prepare drawings and specifications for new and existing fuel designs
• Identify, document and lead the resolution of technical risks within each project
• Provide well written, well organized documented engineering analyses to assure design adequacy
• Perform design reviews and production readiness reviews
• Address emergent customer and manufacturing issues
• Work closely with sourcing and manufacturing to support cost reduction activities
• Design test procedures and perform testing to address component and assembly adequacy
• Develop procedures and work to improve engineering productivity
