YOUR ROLE

Run a start-up operation of a new cross dock LAX facility in Torrance, CA. To maintain efficient logistics operations and to build strong partnerships with customers and to guide and lead new business implementation including overseeing and supervising, operations, value added services, solutions design & consolidation operations. This position is responsible for the overall management and performance of the facility including warehouse operations, customer relations, quality, and security. In addition, the station manager is accountable for achieving company financial objectives, productivity standards and personnel development.

 

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
 

Operations: Develop and direct team members to ensure the compliant, efficient and cost-effective operation and utilization of the facility. Oversee all distribution services including receiving, storing, shipping, special projects, maintenance and administrative activities to ensure customer requirements are met. Other responsibilities include the oversight and execution of the following:

• Oversee job assignments and labor schedules. Plan long-range labor needs based on sales forecasts and input from management. Focus on continuous improvement and make recommendations to senior management on programs to improve operations.
• Coordination of all aspects of the delivery (including, but not limited to, billing, rate quotation, approval of vendor invoices, etc.).
• Scheduling of pick-ups daily.
• Adhere to all shipping, import and export regulations.
• Escalate any unresolved issues or risks before they materially impact the Company or client.
• Work closely with other departments to deliver high level of service to customers.
• Monitor KPI’s

Labor Management: Direct the operations to achieve prescribed objectives. Develop and maintain a productive work team by creating programs for hiring, training and professional development. Match the skill and background of personnel to the work required. Apply sound communication and motivational techniques, create programs to supervise, counsel and discipline associates. Implement an appropriate performance evaluation system for recommending promotions, wage increases and terminations.

Equipment / Safety: Ensure that procedures are in place of the efficient operation and utilization of all warehouse equipment. Direct programs to ensure the safety of all personnel, equipment and property. Provide safety instruction to personnel as needed. Report all work-related injuries immediately. Provide immediate medical attention to injured employees as necessary. Ensure compliance with appropriate government regulations.
