The construction safety manager will actively assess the environmental and structural hazards that may be present on the jobsite(s). The safety manager will plan safety training and activities based on regulation and best practices. The safety manager will be responsible for the overall safety program and actively create and manage activity hazard analyses. The safety manager will maintain all safety training and inspection records for the life of the project. The safety manager will oversee a staff of inspectors, including training of the inspectors as required.Duties/Responsibilities:
- Plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state and federal regulations, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and state/local agencies
- Executes health and safety plans on jobsites and train employees on safety policies to encourage a culture of health and safety
- Assist in preparing and reviewing job-specific safety plans and hazard analyses.
- Performs safety audits and inspections, prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventative measures
- Delivers corrective action & disciplinary measures with employees who fail to comply with expected safety standards
- Coordinate and conduct worksite inspections, assessments, surveys and program evaluations to identify potential hazards and for compliance with all applicable safety and health regulations and contract requirements.
- Collaborate with superintendents, project managers, and GCs on investigations of incidents and document properly. Assist in implementation of corrective actions as it relates to the incident
- Oversee staff of safety personnel (inspectors, auditors)
Requirements
- 10 Years relative work experience
- Must be able to work onsite in Hawaii on the island of Maui
- OSHA 10 & 30 certifications
- OSHA 50 preferred
- HAZWOPER preferred
- Certified Safety Professional certification preferred
- Bachelor’s degree
- Valid driver’s license
- US Citizen
