Job Description Summary

**This position pays $25.00 per hour.

This position will be supporting the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment, Clinical Services program to perform outreach activities in Weld County. The primary goal of this position is to support Clinical Services as we expand outreach services in Weld County and increase use of our new mobile medical unit. This position will provide clinical support to our staff so that we can expand our outreach efforts in the summer months when opportunities are most prevalent.

The ideal candidate will be working toward their Bachelor of Science in Nursing and have a specialized interest in public health nursing, rural health, and clinical services. The candidate will show above average communication skills, a passion for public health clinical services, and an understanding of cultural humility. Their efforts and motives will align with the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment’s mission and vision.

Candidate will work part-time, averaging 32 hours per week, over a period of 9-11 weeks starting in May 2025, to complete assigned tasks and projects by August 2025.

Job Description

Clinical support - 100%

• Assist with and perform clinical duties under the direction of qualified nursing personnel at outreach events as well as in clinic.
• Collect blood and other clinical specimen and prepare them for testing.
• After appropriate training and under supervision, perform CLIA waived lab tests, venipuncture, and injections.
• Interview clients to collect a medical history, measure vital signs and document findings in the electronic medical record (EMR). Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets or provider’s instructions to clients.
• Adhere to County work hours, policies, procedures and rules governing professional staff behavior.
• Adhere to County policies governing the observation of confidentiality and the handling of confidential information.
• Assume personal and professional responsibilities for his or her actions and activities.
• Maintain professional relationships with County employees, customers and so forth.
• Utilize a courteous, enthusiastic, open-minded, critical approach to policies and procedures within the profession.
• Relate and apply knowledge acquired in the academic setting to the County setting.
• Develop a self-awareness regarding attitudes, values, behavior patterns, and so forth that influence work.
• Prepare for and utilize trainings and other opportunities of learning afforded in the County.
• Be consistent and punctual in the submission of all work assignments to the supervisor/manager.

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited BSN program.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefer candidate who has completed at least one year of BSN program.
• CNA or CMA certification and/or work experience preferred, but not required.

This position is non- exempt compensation to determine FLSA status from the minimum wage and overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
