Description
Keuka College seeks a visionary and dynamic leader for the position of Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA). As the College’s chief academic officer, the Provost/VPAA will lead and advocate for academic innovation and excellence across all disciplines. This key leadership position is responsible for supervising all instructional programs, overseeing matters related to curriculum development, and ensuring alignment with the College's mission, vision, and strategic goals.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Serves as chief advisor to the President on the College’s curriculum and academic affairs, which includes in-country, international, and online degree and certificate programs, as well as establishes and maintains relationships with external partners and consortia.
- In service to the College’s mission, vision, and values, and in concert with the College’s Strategic Plan, the Provost leads Academic Affairs through the development, implementation, and assessment of an Academic Operating Plan that centers on students’ experiential learning, growth, and citizenship.
- Guides and supports faculty and academic leaders in the development and maintenance of educational programs that support and enrich the lives of Keuka College students while responding to the needs of the community.
- Engages with faculty leaders to promote, elevate, and support effective and mindful pedagogy, innovative scholarship, and on-going professional development.
- Oversee the appointment, reappointment, promotion, renewal, termination, evaluation, and other employment status matters of faculty and staff within Academic Affairs.
- Monitors and facilitates faculty shared governance; provides leadership and oversight for academic and faculty standards, practices, and policies, as codified in the Faculty Handbook; serves ex officio on college committees as requested and/or as assigned by the President; attends Board of Trustee and President’s Cabinet meetings and provides reports to faculty and staff as requested.
- Directs Academic Affairs in accordance with the NYS Department of Education, and as required by New York state law; reports to the President on matters of policy, procedure, and shared governance.
- Develops and administers the annual operating budget for academic affairs; advocates and allocates resources to enhance and ensure faculty development, instructional support, and academic excellence.
- Performs such duties as may be assigned by the President of the College, including representing the President's Office when requested, and/or in the President’s absence.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Some evening and weekend hours are required.
- Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate in an academic discipline.
- Distinguished record of teaching, scholarship, and academic leadership.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in higher education administration and leadership.
- Experience with academic assessment, program review, curriculum development, and accreditation practices.
- Demonstrated ability to lead change within complex academic environments and balance action-oriented leadership with collaboration and deliberation amongst faculty, staff, administrators, and trustees.
- Experience in recruiting and retaining faculty, promoting professional development, and managing tenure and promotion processes.
- Expertise with experiential learning programming and/or supervising students in internship experiences.
- Experience with data and budget management, resource allocation, and strategic planning to ensure the financial health of academic programs.
- A demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within a college community, preferably with experience in navigating accessibility and belonging at liberal arts institutions.
- Experience with and/or knowledge of shared governance models at smaller institutions.
