The Zamarin Laboratory is seeking highly motivated postdocs to lead projects aimed at understanding of the mechanisms of tumor and immune system interactions and on development of novel immunotherapy approaches for cancer therapy. We are particularly interested in immunology of gynecologic cancers (ovarian, endometrial, and cervical cancers). Our research takes advantage of patient tumor and blood samples collected within the context of standard and experimental therapies as well as animal models, including genetic and transplantable tumor models. We have a particular interest in locoregional immune therapies using engineered oncolytic viruses and are studying how oncolytic viruses interact with the immune system when administered alone and in combination with other therapeutics including immune checkpoint blockade and adoptive T cell therapies.
The fellow would be expected to be involved in handling and processing of human biospecimens, including live tissue dissociation and cryopreservation, extraction of nucleic acids, and data analysis. The fellow would also be expected to perform mouse experiments, which include the use of genetic tumor models, implantation of tumor cells, administration of therapies, and processing and analysis of tumor tissues by microscopy imaging, flow cytometry, and single-cell RNA sequencing. Experience with cloning and familiarity with data languages (e.g. R or Python) are a strong plus.
