About you and this role

As the Senior Process Automation Engineer, you serve as a technical resource and process automation lead for small to large capital and improvement projects regionally and/or globally. You direct and lead both Dow and contract resources. This role is involved in all three phases of projects: front end loading, detailed design and construction, and commissioning and startup. This role requires expanded conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and broadens capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for tasks such as those listed below when equipment or instruments are being added, removed, or changed. This role is also involved in Safety Integrity Level (SIL) determination, Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), and designing or modifying the basic process control system (BPCS). Designs the control strategy and control systems, as well as implementation (code development), which is not typical within the industry.
  • Establish project goals and planning.
  • Track progress, schedules, and costs for the PA team during all project phases.
  • Complete technical review of the control teamwork and provide coaching / corrective feedback.
  • Determine testing scenarios and oversee the simulation of the control system to test the strategy and improvements.
  • Work with other engineers to determine the project and control requirements.
  • Estimate the process control cost and schedule for the project and manage against these baselines.
  • Develop functional requirement specification (FRS) for the system & create detailed requirement specifications (DRS), by engaging with stakeholders and cross-discipline and cross-functional global project teams.
  • Identify and deploy Most Effective Technology (MET) standard solution components to meet project requirements.
  • Develop control software, review other people's control software, operator graphics and simulation software are an integral part of this position.
  • Complete the factory acceptance test (FAT) Commissioning.
  • Provide training of operations and support commissioning and start-up of the new asset.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in engineering required (Chemical Engineering preferred).
  • At least 3 years of process automation, engineering, manufacturing or related experience required.
  • Knowledge in commercial DCS systems, ABB 800xA, DeltaV, Dow Mod5, ABB MOD300, Foxboro, and /or Triconex.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
