Job Description

Senior User Researchers, in the Digital Health unit, will establish the methodology and drive the execution of user research and usability testing for the teams they support. The Senior User Researcher will partner closely with Product Managers, Product Designers, and Engineers on the AI team to conduct research that drives business strategy, innovation, product roadmaps, design, and engineering decisions. The Senior User Researcher will also manage the recruitment of research participants as well as key relationships with our co-creation and collaboration partners. The Senior User Researcher must have expertise in qualitative and quantitative UXR, usability testing, facilitation, persona development and other research methods. The Senior User Researcher should also be comfortable working cross-functionally, fostering relationships, and delivering research presentations to partners at all levels across the organization.

Job Duties

 

  • Lead and conduct user research, usability testing, and other forms of customer feedback to improve products and services for the AI team.
  • Create research plans, conduct research activities, analyze and synthesize findings, author research reports, and present findings.
  • Conduct competitive analysis, to understand the product landscape, baseline functionality, and identify areas of opportunity.
  • Create journey maps, user flow diagrams, and service blueprints to illustrate the experience of users and work teams.
  • Create and maintain user personas.
  • Lead multiple research projects across different products.
  • Engage with cross-functional counterparts to understand the research needs and inform where research can elevate and unblock processes.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and direction/feedback around UX research and usability testing to the broader design and product management teams.
  • Manage and actively recruit participants for research studies.
  • Establish and maintain key relationships with research partners at medical facilities.
  • Work cross-functionally across the Digital Health unit, as well as the broader Olympus organization to foster and maintain key relationships with Olympus colleagues.
  • Stay current on best practice research techniques and incorporate these practices where applicable.

 

Job Qualfication

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology, Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, or User Experience (or equivalent work experience in a related field) • Master's or PhD in Anthropology, Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, or User Experience (or equivalent work experience in a related field).
  • Minimum of 6-8+ years of experience in UX Research.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience conduct research and testing of web applications.
  • Minimum of 5+ years working as part of a product team in an agile environment.
  • Availability to attend meeting with team members spread out around the globe.
  • Other Considerations (travel/hours availability, etc.): Travel required (US and International).

 

Preferred:

  • Expertise utilizing various research design methods (e.g. user interviews, usability studies, contextual inquiry, surveys, etc.).
  • Experience leading strategic research efforts and integrating user research insights into product roadmaps, strategy, and designs.
  • Strong knowledge of both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills; the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.
  • Comfortable in a highly technical environment; ability to engage with quantitative stakeholders and understand quantitative findings and materials.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Ability to work with a low-ego, highly collaborative, cross-functional team.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Medical technology or healthcare experience preferred, although not required.
