Senior Geologist

<h2>This Opportunity</h2><p>WSP USA Inc is currently seeking a<strong> Senior Geologist </strong>to work out of our office in <strong>Canton, MS </strong>Provides technical assistance and guidance for multi-site/phase environmental work processes, due diligence, subsurface investigation, and remediation projects.  Conducts geophysical surveys and performs analysis of geological data from various media (soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air/vapor). Substantiates reports and documentation to advise on field conditions, movement, and outcome of overall risks to ecological and human health.  Assists project leadership with site assessment, corrective strategies, classification of contaminated materials, and assisting with their treatment, disposal, and/or onsite remediation.  Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards.</p><h2>Your Impact</h2><ul><li>Determine well-defined data collection methods for extracting, identifying, and compiling environmental data from soil sampling, soil gas sampling, groundwater sampling, stormwater sampling, boring logs, and other matrices for projects, investigations, and surveys.</li><li>Assist with environmental site assessments (Phase I and II).</li><li>Research environmental hazmat databases regarding historical property land uses.</li><li>Coordinate site investigation, subsurface boring and trenching oversight, and monitoring of groundwater and extraction well installations.</li><li>Assist with oversight of drilling subcontractors during sample collection, well installations, and well abandonment.</li><li>Prepare data and visualizations such as mineral charts, soil analyses, groundwater modeling, maps geologic cross-sections, and other illustrations.</li><li>Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements, analysis, and reporting.</li><li>Assist with development and scoping of medium-sized projects.</li><li>Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and field/work site notebook.</li><li>Prepare technical reports and presentations that explain research, findings, and recommendations to prevent, control, restore, or clean-up chemical and environmental problems and contamination.</li><li>Oversee equipment/tool performance, calibration, troubleshooting of malfunctions, and inventory control.</li><li>Assist in the analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of geologic, hydrogeologic, and chemical data obtained during field investigations, offering input with developing action plans for moderate- to high-level threat mitigation activities.</li><li>Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work.</li><li>Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures which include but is not limited to, the maintenance of sample collection, trench and boring, laboratory documentation, written procedures, monitoring systems, and logbooks.</li><li>Prepare and implement site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).</li><li>Comply with regulatory requirements pertaining to the data integrity, documentation, procedures, training, monitoring systems, and record compliance and retention.</li><li>Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.</li><li>Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.</li><li>Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.</li></ul><h2>Who You Are</h2><p><strong>Required Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or closely related discipline.</li><li>5 to 7 years of experience working as a Geologist.</li><li>Analytical skills, and proficient with geological research techniques and protocol.</li><li>Working knowledge with the concepts of reducing and eliminating the use or generation of hazardous substances, processes, or products., and mitigation programs.</li><li>Working knowledge of relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.</li><li>Experience sampling soil and groundwater via drilling including direct-push, hollow-stem auger, and other similar drilling methods.</li><li>Experience in conducting Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments in accordance with ASTM guidelines and industry standards.</li><li>Experience with UST investigations and remediation including investigation of hydro-carbon impacted sites.</li><li>Experience with evaluation of vapor intrusion and sampling soil gas per DTSC and EPA guidelines.</li><li>Experience installing groundwater monitoring wells, remediation wells, and soil gas wells.</li><li>Experience writing groundwater monitoring reports and well installation reports.</li><li>Effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas
