Role Summary

This role is responsible for executing on the strategy for the Training Delivery department at Alaska Airlines (AS) and Horizon Air (QX). As a people leader, the Manager Training Delivery leads and establishes priorities for the team to deliver high-quality training products through cutting edge learning via classroom instruction and webinars and incorporating a variety of presentation methods and applications into training delivery model. 

Key Duties

  • Lead the team of Training Delivery Specialists and establish priorities to provide world-class training through the development and facilitation of multiple training programs.
  • Coach, mentor, and delegate duties to Training Delivery Specialists.
  • Make decisions related to the appropriate prioritization of multiple training classes and projects and make adjustments as necessary. 
  • Provide input in the strategy for determining effective training methods for new and current material and researching appropriate tools and technology for high quality training products.
  • Collaborate with Training Development, frontline trainers, and end-users groups to support the training curriculum and drive achievement of division training goals.
  • Negotiate, explore, and deploy new ideas for improved workflow and automation enhancements.
  • Responsible for maintaining training records to ensure compliance.
  • Responsible for monitoring the reporting budget for the Training Delivery department.
  • Develop people through effective performance management and ongoing feedback, focusing on delegation for stretch assignments, growing and developing the team for capacity and growth, looking at performance across the team, and time management
  • Shape the team through action, presence, and reinforcement of behaviors. 

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required 

  • 5 years of progressive work experience in classroom facilitation, airport operations, or related field.
  • 2 years of leadership experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Knowledge of appropriate use of technology for learning purposes.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work at both strategic and tactical levels and with detailed information.  
  • Superior critical thinking skills to problem-solve and resolve complex issues.
  • Familiar with web-based media and eLearning.
  • Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and influential communication skills, attentive to details and the ability to establish rapport. 
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, delivering on time and within budget.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to a changing business environment.
  • A self-starter who takes initiative in finding solutions to difficult and unique problems/opportunities.
  • Demonstrated track record of effectively leading/working with cross-functional teams, driving meaningful changes, and developing and mentoring others.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Ability and willingness to travel a minimum of 20% per year.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. 

Preferred 

  • Broad knowledge of continuous process improvement and project management concepts coupled with detailed knowledge of change management. 
  • Experience managing a large and complex budget. 
  • Experience speaking/presenting to large audiences.

Salary Range

$117,850 - $176,800 / year
