About the role:
The Principal API Quality Engineer will play a critical role in the high-quality delivery of FIS’ Digital Platform APIs and back-end services driving the delivery of a reliable, secure and scalable banking platform.  As a Principal API Quality Engineer, you will develop automated test frameworks and tools that will enable developers and quality engineers to implement fast reliable test coverage and quality gates that run in CI/CD pipelines. In this role you will collaborate cross-functionally to research and implement API test automation frameworks and tooling that promote efficiency gains in testing and drive initiatives to enhance overall testing effectiveness and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in API testing strategies, including contract and integration testing, performance and security testing with extensive hands-on experience with API test frameworks.

What you will be doing:

·         Drive a culture of continuous improvement in Quality and help teams increase productivity and foster innovation.

·         Research, Implement and maintain a new JavaScript based API test framework.

·         Evaluate third-party testing tools, services, and vendors, and make recommendations for adoption based on quality, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with organizational goals.

·         You will be part of the Digital Quality Enablement team where you will research and implement automated testing solutions for API contract, smoke, integration and regression testing, performance and security testing.

·         Demonstrated ability to innovate and leverage new technologies, tools, and techniques to solve complex technical challenges in testing, test environments and test data.

·         Enable teams with the testing frameworks, pipelines and tools that promote a shift-left testing approach.

·         Implement quality gates in CI/CD pipelines.

·         Actively participate in continuous grooming and execution of the Quality Engineering Enablement Roadmap.

·         Participate in code reviews to maintain the quality and stability of the test frameworks.

·         Act as a subject matter expert on API testing topics, provide technical guidance to stakeholders on test automation strategies and best practices, and contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing efforts.

·         Collaborate with development, QE, DevOps, product management, and other teams to align quality goals and drive continuous improvement in quality.

·         Champion a culture of innovation, creativity, and excellence in Quality within the Digital teams, fostering collaboration and a positive work environment.

What you will need:

·         Advanced knowledge of full SDLC and test automation best practices for large scale API-based software products, with focus on CI/CD practices and automated testing

·         Extensive hands-on experience with REST API testing frameworks.

·         Proficient in JavaScript and/or Java

·         Advanced knowledge in Contract and integration testing.

·         Experience with test data setup and API mocking.
