Pharmacy Tech II FT Days

Up to 5K Sign-on Bonus Based on Eligibility   Pharmacy Tech II Full Time Days Position Summary   The Pharmacy Technician serves as a part of the healthcare team at Piedmont Medical Center and collaborates with other team members to provide optimal care. The Pharmacy Technician accepts responsibility and accountability for provision of care in accordance with the current policies and procedures. Assists pharmacists in preparing, labeling and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory and supplies, receiving, sorting, and stocking medications and supplies. Bills and credits medications to patients.   THE PHARMACY TECH II FULL TIME DAYS CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.   The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. However, no accommodations will be made which may pose serious health or safety risks to the employee or others or which impose undue hardships on the organization.   Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associates Degree preferred.   Minimum Experience: Acute Care Setting: Minimum of two years in any setting with one year of experience in a hospital setting preferred. Considerable knowledge and application of basic mathematic skills, including ratio and proportion relationships; strong verbal and written communication skills, and ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Considerable knowledge of medication names (both trade and generic) and their doses, routes of administration and adverse effects. *IV Compunding and Chemo experience highly recommended*   Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses: Current SC Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern license required. SC State-Certified Pharmacy Technician registration preferred. National Pharmacy Technician certification (PTCB) preferred. American Heart Association BLS Certification required.

This individual’s responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Accurately fill and label medication orders with correct strength, dosage form, and quantity in a timely manner. Accurately stock automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs) in a timely manner. Fill/refill emergency crash carts, boxes, and kits timely and accurately. Re-package and label oral medications/extemporaneous preparations and maintain appropriate records. Respond appropriately to requests for STAT orders, routine orders, department requests, and ADC stock out bulletins. Assure all medications are checked by a pharmacist prior to dispensing. Stock medications into pharmacy inventory, including sterile compounding areas. Maintain adequate medication stock levels and proper storage of medications. Deliver medications to patient care areas. Attend to medication requests and phone calls. Prepare complex IV admixtures (i.e., chemotherapy, biotherapy) accurately, consistent with IV policies and procedures (USPless than797> and USPless than800>). Comply with state and federal regulatory requirements, Joint Commission standards and Tenet and hospital policies and procedures. Assist in performing various duties as assigned.

Education:

Required: High school graduate or equivalent

Experience:

Required: 3 years of pharmacy experience
Preferred: 2 years of hospital experience

Certifications:

Required: Registered Pharmacy Technician license or Pharmacy Technician certification, as required by state law. Accredited training in sterile products preparation and IV Admixture Certification

Physical Demands:

Lift/position up to 50 lbs. Push/pull up to 50 lbs. of force. Frequent standing and walking. Frequent reaching, stooping, and bending. Manual dexterity, mobility, touch, auditory to perform all the related duties of the position.
