Job Description

The Thermal Energy Systems group is looking for a current undergraduate or recent graduate to serve as a project controller for the heliostat consortium (HelioCon) and other existing Concentrating Solar Thermal Power projects.

The day-to-day work:

NREL's project controllers support our researchers by managing internal and external processes related to project funding. The successful candidate will work with engineers and scientists under the general supervision and guidance of project leaders and more senior-level staff to support planning, coordinating, implementing, and assessing project activities according to project objectives and deadlines.

This team is excited to meet candidates who:

  • Are ready to support national-scale renewable energy development efforts.
  • Want to work with researchers and subcontractors both in and outside of NREL.
  • Have an interest in project management, project finance, communication, or a relevant field.
  • Want to learn more about internal processes at a national laboratory.

NREL, partnering with Sandia National Laboratories (Sandia) and the Australian Solar Thermal Research Institute (ASTRI), will develop and manage a national laboratory-led U.S. consortium to support research, development, validation, commercialization, and deployment of low-cost heliostats for concentrating solar power (CSP) and solar thermal (CST) applications.
