Job Summary:

The role of a General Dentist is to provide high quality, comprehensive dental care to patients of all ages in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) setting. This role involves diagnosing and treating dental conditions, performing preventive and restorative procedures, and promoting oral health through patient education. The General Dentist collaborates with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care, and adheres to all regulatory, clinical, and operational guidelines. This position supports the mission of the organization by delivering equitable and accessible dental services to underserved populations.

 

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited dental school with Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a General Dentist is preferred.

  • Current, valid and unrestricted state dental license to practice dentistry in the State of California.

  • Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certificate and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.

  • Experience in community, rural health center or public health dentistry is a plus.

  • Commitment to serving diverse and underserved populations.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with all members of the healthcare team.

  • Familiarity and the ability to navigate with electronic dental and health records systems, such as OCHIN Epic, Epic Wisdom, etc.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise staff and collaborate with colleagues, with the capacity to work both independently and as a part of a team within diverse environments and among a diverse workforce.

  • Performs all duties with honesty, integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment.

  • Knowledge of current dental practices and procedures, organizational policies, systems, and objectives.

  • Demonstrate the ability in exercising initiative, problem-solving, and decision-making.

  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with medical, dental, and administrative staff, as well as patients and the public.

  • Strong analytical and employee relations skills.

  •  Excellent writing, business communication, editing, and proofreading skills.

  • Ability to interact effectively and in a supportive manner with persons of all backgrounds.

  • Proactive, self-motivated and able to work independently as well as on a team with the ability to exercise sound independent judgment.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and a professional demeanor and must positively represent the organization at all times.

  • Ability to establish and maintain positive and professional working relationships.
