The Job:
This Field Sales Representative position will be part of our Nelson Stud Welding Sales team located in Illinois near Chicago. The ideal candidate would live within this territory to be able to best serve the customer base. Any experience in the construction industry (Steel erection/fabrication, etc.) is a definite advantage. The largest accounts in this territory are construction related. This is a service based selling position, requiring travel throughout the territory spanning IL, WI, MO and IN.�� You will need to have basic troubleshooting skills and a general knowledge of basic hand tools. The position does require some minor mechanical and light electrical repairs at the customer locations. A successful candidate will gain and retain customers with excellent sales skills, customer support and communication.
You’ll get to:
- Identify current and future customer service requirements by establishing personal rapport
- Provide product, service, or equipment technical and engineering information by answering questions and requests.
- Establish and service new accounts identifying potential customers; planning and organizing sales calls.
- Prepare cost estimates by studying basic blueprints, plans, and related customer documents
- Consult and promote products with engineers, architects, and other professional and technical personnel
- Determine improvements by analyzing cost-benefit ratios of equipment, supplies, or service applications in customer environment.
- Gain customer acceptance by explaining and demonstrating cost reductions and operations improvements.
- Submit orders by conferring with technical support staff and Inside Sales/Customer Service.
- Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; advising customer on product, service, or equipment adherence to requirements.
- Prepare sales engineering reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and engineering and application trends.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.

- Basic troubleshooting skills and a general knowledge of basic hand tools.
- The ability to perform some minor repairs at the customer locations.
- As this is a service based selling position, you will need to have success at gaining and retaining customers by providing excellent customer support and communication.
- Bachelor’s degree plus 1-2 years of experience with relevant background in engineering or construction, preferred.
