CLASS DEFINITION

A Storekeeper II Auto Parts receives, stores and distributes automotive parts. The work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities.

Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek. Work is performed in a garage and warehouse where there is exposure to fumes, corrosive materials, heat and cold. Work requires some bending, lifting, pushing and hauling of heavy stock items.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must:

Education: Have graduated from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate.

AND

Experience: Have two years of experience in storing and issuing automotive parts.

OR

Equivalency Notes: Have an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Licenses, Registrations, and Certificates: Have a valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license or an equivalent out-of-state driver's license acceptable to the Office of Risk Management is required.

PROVISIONAL DRIVER’S LICENSE ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  **The Fleet Management Division preferred qualifications entail the following:

  • Have two years of experience in identifying, storing, and issuing automotive parts

  • Have graduated from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of methods and procedures for receiving, issuing, storing and shipping automotive parts and materials.

  • Maintaining and updating parts records.

  • Ability to operate material handling equipment.

  • Ability to utilize standard business computer software programs and the internet to perform routine research and to enter and maintain inventory and distribution records.

  • Knowledge of automotive parts groups and utilizing parts catalogs.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, City agency personnel and associates.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Background Check                                        

Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint must be successfully completed. 

Probation 

All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory six-month's probation.

Eligibility 

Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.
