Senior Scientist II, Group Lead

 

Position Summary

BioNTech US is seeking a creative, passionate, and curious Group Leader to join the Proteomics group and lead a team focused on advanced mass spectrometry-based applications for translational research. The successful candidate will work independently and as a strategic contributor on cross-functional teams to help pioneer and establish new technologies and workflows to advance preclinical validation of individualized cancer vaccines for oncology (IVAC) and vaccine development for infectious disease programs. Furthermore, the successful candidate will apply proteomics methodologies to support other therapeutic modalities such as antibody drug conjugates (ADCs). Leading a team as part of the Proteomics unit at BioNTech US, the successful candidate will interact with a cross functional group of scientists with the goal of establishing and applying advanced Proteomics workflows for exciting, translational research.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead a team in Proteomics sample processing techniques for nanoLC-MS/MS analysis, including enzymatic digestion, desalting, chemical modification, and fractionation
  • Collaborate and strategize with scientists across cross-functional teams to appropriately apply MS-based proteomics for preclinical validation across portfolios within BioNTech
  • Lead a team in the optimization and execution of immunopurification and other affinity-based enrichment strategies
  • Oversee generation of biological samples via mammalian cell culture
  • Method development and implementation of protein purification strategies for isolation of membrane and intracellular proteins from cells and tissues
  • Contributions to nanoLC-MS/MS experimental design
  • Review of scientific literature and collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Tracking and compiling of results in an electronic notebook
  • Assisting with training of lab personnel
  • Analysis and presentation of results to cross-functional teams


Requirements: 

  • PhD degree in proteomics, biology, chemistr
