Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center, located in Los Angeles, is a non-profit organization that provides an array of comprehensive mental health services for Children, Adolescents, Transitional Aged Youth, and Adults suffering from mental illness in the Greater Los Angeles area. The organization consists of a standalone fifty-five (55) )-bed hospital and six outlying outpatient facilities that have anywhere from fourteen (14) beds to one hundred and thirty-four (134) beds. The organization has approximately four hundred (400) employees.
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Residential Manager ensures that the facility and grounds maintain compliance with our licensing and regulatory agencies, including Community Care Licensing, and the AOA. Oversees security procedures, including facility rounds, person and property searches, facility vehicle maintenance, and is the facility designated Safety Manager. Coordinates with Engineering for all maintenance and repair needs of the facility.
Acts as a liaison with other departments, such as Engineering, Nutrition Services, IT, EVS, and others to ensure the efficient and safe delivery of services. Supervises the Associate Residential Manager and the Activity Coordinator. Designated CCL Administrator and serves as a member of the management team. Oversees all the Paraprofessional Counselor operations of the facility. Performs other duties as needed.
ESSENTIALS DUTIES
- Serves as the designated Community Care Licensing Administrator for the facility and ensures compliance with all Title 22 regulations. Participates in all CCL visits to the facility, provides needed information, and follows up on any action needed in response to outcome reports. Maintains active CCL Administrator certification, including completing required continuing education courses bi-annually.
- Responsible for completing all needed CCL paperwork for clients residing in the facility, and is the point person for non-DMH enrolled clients.
- Serves as Safety Manager for the facility, submits required reports to EOC and acts as the representative at all Safety Committee Meetings.
- Reviews the Safety and Disaster Manual at least annually. Updates policies and procedures as needed. Proposes updated policies and procedures to the Program Director and Safety Committee for recommendations and approval
- Supervises/assigns all emergency drills. Ensures that drills are conducted according to policy, and that the frequency of drills is in accordance with Gateways policy and requirements of contract agencies
- Monitors the maintenance of all facility emergency equipment, including the fire alarm system, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and panic button alarm system.
- Supervises facility sanitation by monitoring that the residential rooms, grounds, activity buildings and staff offices remain in compliance with contract agencies and licensing standards.
- Conducts monthly Community Care Licensing Hazard Detection/Surveillance Report. Reports all finding to the Director of Facilities Mgmt.
- Provides crisis intervention and collaborates with Clinical Supervisor to assist in managing crises that occur, including using verbal de-escalation strategies with clients and helping to facilitate hospitalizations when needed.
- Supervises the delivery of all maintenance services. Ensures that requests for maintenance services are submitted in a timely manner, and monitors for completion of all requested services.
- Monitors the security of the facility by completing security rounds, assigning rounds to staff, and monitoring for completion of assigned rounds. Oversees regular QA audits of rounds.<
