This position is of limited duration and will end one year after hire date.

Purpose

As a Postbaccalaureate Social Science/Humanities Research Associate, you will be an integral part of our research team, working on research related to social science and policy. This position is ideal for individuals who have recently completed their undergraduate studies or relevant master's program and are looking to gain research experience before pursuing a Ph.D.

Responsibilities

Working independently and with guidance from the Director, Associate Director, and collaborators:

• Produce original research using large scale data and statistical methods.
• Conduct literature reviews and background research.
• Write reports and peer-reviewed articles on research produced.
• Collect and code datasets on a range of social science topics.
• Manage coordination of time on projects, onboarding and day-to-day communication.
• Assist in managing of graduate and undergraduate research assistants.
• Assist with grant writing, submissions, and reporting.
• Other duties as required by the Associate Director.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computational Social Science, Communication Studies, Political Science, or a related field.  At least two years of related work experience. Track record of research productivity, including published articles in peer-reviewed journals or conferences presentations.  Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.  Effective communication skills to convey complex findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computational Social Science, Communication Studies, Political Science, or a related field.  At least 1 year of related research work experience.  Strong interest in pursuing a Ph.D. in a related discipline.  Proficiency in programming in R, Stata, SPSS, or Python.  Experience in data cleaning, data analysis, and statistical modeling. 

Salary Range

$41,600 + depending on qualifications
