We are developing the future of Army Aviation with the Bell Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) part of the US Army’s Future Vertical Lift (FVL) modernization effort. We are also developing the Bell 525 Relentless and Bell's High-Speed Vertical Take-Off and Landing (HSVTOL) program, a next generation aircraft.

This position is onsite at the Bell's Drive Systems Center in Grand Prairie, Texas.

Operations Support Material Review Board (MRB) Engineering

This position is for a Material Review Board (MRB) member that works discrepant part evaluation and disposition needs on the production floor and on procured components. The Engineer will be required to disposition defects and oversee the planning, repair, and/or acceptance of flight articles. 

The candidate will lead internal and external technical discussions to assess part conditions and repair capabilities as part of the disposition process. They will work closely with engineering support groups – such as drive system design, drives stress, and fatigue – as well as production supervisors and managers to support the assessment of part conditions and execution of repairs, where applicable, assuring MRB approved documents are followed and repairs are done correctly. 

The candidate will participate in root cause corrective action teams in the factory and with suppliers as required to reduce recurring defects.

What you’ll be doing as a Material Review Board Engineer:  

The candidate is expected to become an MRB board member and be certified to disposition non-conforming drive system components (gears, bearings, shafts, housings, and other supporting components) including the design of original repairs (example: bushings/sleeves/liners) based on fit/form/function at the next assembly.  

The candidate is expected to become a member of the Planning Review Board and be responsible for reviewing and approving fabrication planning as well as providing repair dispositions for items that are designated as Controlled Items (Primary, Critical, & Flight Safety Parts).

Additional responsibilities include providing Engineering cross-function support, design interpretation to manufacturing/production teams, and supporting new/existing program development/improvements.

Qualifications

 

Skills You Bring to This Role:

·         Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering or relevant Engineering field is required.

·         Minimum of 5+ years of Engineering experience in dynamic component or drive system fabrication within the aerospace or automotive industries with an understanding of fabrication processes and the engineering data that defines the product and inspection and MRB systems for the repair metallic components.

·         Hands on experience trouble shooting fabrication problems and process improvements in an aerospace manufacturing environment for machined metallic parts.

·         Knowledge of Drive Systems design principles
