Business Intelligence Developer

As part of the Data Intelligence department, the Business Intelligence (BI) Developer translates business needs into technical requirements and is responsible for the entire BI development lifecycle from design and development to end-user training. This role plays an important part in the execution of Allied’s data strategy by contributing to the self-service operating model, enhancing access to quality data and enabling users to find answers through actionable insights. The developer will work closely with senior BI developers, business stakeholders and report creators, data engineering, data governance, and additional technology groups. The right candidate for this role has a passion for business intelligence technology, cross-functional collaboration, and delivering business value through data solutions.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Business Intelligence Architecture & Development (70%)

• Develop and maintain reports and dashboards for stakeholders utilizing Microsoft Power BI and other ETL and analysis tools as needed.
• Optimize data models, M and DAX queries in existing reports to improve quality, performance, and efficiency.
• Play a key role in BI application support through maintaining appropriate user access and data refresh configurations, researching bugs, and implementing solutions.
• Apply Business Intelligence and UI/UX best practices to BI solutions.
• Stay current on the latest Microsoft Fabric and Power BI features. Proactively identify and pursue opportunities to enhance Allied’s business intelligence environment.
• Work closely with the Data Engineering and Data Governance departments to ensure that the data is accessible, accurate, and defined.

Business Engagement (30%)

• Consult with stakeholders throughout the organization to gather requirements based on business needs, challenges, and opportunities, then translate into scalable, self-service BI reporting solutions.
• Create resources and conduct training on BI technology with end users to ensure maximum user engagement and adoption.
• Support Senior BI Developers in business report creator coaching and creation of job aids.
• Act as an enterprise SME for Power BI and promotes Business Intelligence across the organization.
• Communicate data and technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Certifications & KSA):

• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required. Field of Study: STEM, Informatics, Computer Science, Analytics, MIS.
• 1 – 3 years in a business intelligence or data analytics role required.
• Experience in Microsoft Power BI or similar business intelligence tool required.
• Experience in Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) language preferred.
• Experience in Structured Query Language (SQL) preferred.
• Understanding of data structures, relational databases, and dimensional modeling concepts required.
• Experience with Snowflake or other cloud-based Data Warehouse and Data Lake environments preferred.
• Exposure to Agile methodologies, Scrum framework, and tools like JIRA or Azure DevOps is preferred.
• Exceptional attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
• Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
