Senior Associate (AS)

Structured Finance Energy team European Energy platform based in Madrid

Context and definition:

The European Structured Finance Energy Team is the front office origination and execution team covering Power and Renewables financings across Europe.

The team identifies this Senior Associate role as a key position to unlock many of new opportunities that we believe can be created, levering on the unparalleled experience, client relationships and know-how that has been built over the last years.

Candidates must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrate initiative, and have the judgment and confidence to work independently with clients and colleagues.

The candidate must possess a strong desire to support the growing finance and business development efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • To help senior members of the team to execute business opportunities in Power and Renewable sectors.
  • Assist with business origination activities and preparation of top quality marketing and internal materials, both from a content and visual perspective.
  • Develop and operate complex financial models, ensuring they accurately reflect transaction terms and due diligence, running sensitivity analysis, and making adjustments as deals evolve.
  • To design new value-added solutions, as the team progresses providing more complex structures.
  • Responsible for mentoring and developing more junior members of staff, providing constructive feedback on a formal and informal basis.

Requirements and skills:

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 6 years in advisory and/or lending structured finance transactions.
    • Deep know how of the renewable space, and the energy transition environment.
    • Mastering of the legal arrangements standard in non-recourse financing.
    • Highly valued: International experience.

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Engineering.

  • Skills:
    • Financial modeling and credit risk presentations.
    • Solid structured finance fundamentals, with special focus on cash flow analysis, financing products and different debt structures (senior debt, holdco /subordinated debt financing)
    • Excellent PowerPoint and presentation skills
    • Communication and organizational skills.
    • Strong interdisciplinary skills covering financing, accounting, financial modelling, due diligence, and documentation.
    • Proactivity and creativity. Ability to take initiatives and propose solutions. High degree of commitment in a very demanding environment.
    • Mandatory: English & Spanish (Full professional proficiency)
