The Global Growth team is helping Back Market increase its impact and reach by launching our services in new countries, and implementing country-specific features.
We adapt our product to local needs and culture in markets where significant growth is still expected in Europe, North America, and APAC. We are in close contact with business developers to identify what our local customers and sellers need most, and implement it.
The trifecta (Product Managers, Engineering Manager, and Business Developers) refines these projects, and use data projections to define our priorities. Global Growth developers are entrusted to implement these features regardless of the functional or technical scope, as long as they comply with contribution guidelines.

Engineering is located in Tokyo and Paris, and our Product Managers are located in New York, Singapore and Paris.

Back Market is recruiting a Senior Software Engineer who is interested in working on any aspect of our code base depending on the priorities. Your scope can be anything as long as we expect great impact from it.
Close collaboration with the teams owning the various parts of our services will be essential. Using Inner source practices to provide code that is reliable, readable, tested, and easily maintainable will be your everyday goal.
Depending on the changes to implement, you will potentially work with technologies or services you have no prior knowledge nor experience. You must see this as an exciting opportunity to be fit for this position.
- Phone screen with your future manager (30 min)- Technical screening (30 minutes)- Technical and fit test with our developers (2h)- Cultural fit with leadership plus one person from our product team (1h)

As few examples of the latest work we contributed to:
- Launching our APAC market place and Japan/Australia markets.
- Supporting multi-format currencies, new payment methods, etc.
- Connecting Australia to Shopify integrator to quickly increase our supply after the launch.
- Building a Back Market application to connect with Next Engine Japanese integrator for helping our sellers listing their products on our market place seamlessly.
- Localizing the front-end pages displayed to customers in US and Japan to increase trust in our website.
Who are you?
- At least 3-5 years of experience as a talented developer
- Experience with distributed systems
- Previous experience with e-commerce or services facing high-traffic
- Willingness to learn about technologies and features with no prior knowledge
- Good knowledge of either JS and front-end technologies (VueJS, NuxtJS, etc...) OR Python and back-end technologies (Django, Flask, etc.) … and motivation to learn the other if not yet mastered
- Basic knowledge of infrastructure technologies (AWS/GCP, SQL, etc...) and web patterns (CDN, caching, HTTP, etc...) is a plus
- Sensibility to deliver optimized code that requires few resources to run and provides great performances
- Rely on tests when writing code
- Always crafts easy-to-understand code
- Write extensive documentation and procedures when needed
- Ability to work asynchronously with people in various time zones
- Great verbal and written communication skills, in English at least (Japanese or Korean is a plus)
- Interest in our tech stack : AWS/GCP, Kubernetes, Docker, APIs, Python, VueJS, Nuxt, Algolia, Datadog, Nginx, uWSGI
