Maintenance Technician

Description

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance and for maintaining all Xientefacilities [which includes the Rectory, Community Center, Saint Boniface School, Children’s Center, and all residential and commercial units (51 in total)] in good condition. The Maintenance Technician will be a jack-of-all-trades with an in-depth knowledge of maintenance procedures, tools, and appliances; an outstanding problem-solver with exceptional communication and organizational skills.

Main Responsibilities:

• Inspect facilities, equipment, and systems to identify any issues.
• Repair faulty equipment units and damaged structures.
• Perform general maintenance tasks including landscaping, painting carpentry.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched areas such as doorknobs, counters, light switches, bathrooms, etc.
• Perform general maintenance routine of the building: sweep, mop, scrub and vacuum floors; clean, dust and polish furniture, windows, and ceiling fans; clean and paint walls as needed; clean and sanitize restrooms using established practices and procedures, stock bathroom with necessary supplies, make certain all areas of the building are kept in a clean, sanitary and orderly condition.
• Empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; replace trash bags. Pick up litter within the facilities and surrounding grounds.
• Handle recycling materials.
• Maintain facility hallways clean at all times.
• Stocking of all packages and deliveries into specific areas
• Assure safety during inclement weather to include shoveling, salting, and ensure wet floors are immediately dried.
• Maintain the exterior of all facilities clean.
• Applies cleaning chemicals according to established safety procedures.
• Removes extraneous dirt/markings from interior and exterior surfaces (walls, doors, windows, etc.)
• Advise Property Manager on matters relating to equipment and/or building maintenance.
• Assist with staff with special events or assemblies. Perform set up and tear down of tables, chairs, and equipment.
• Secure equipment and supplies and protect against pilferage, loss, theft, or abuse. Keeps all equipment in a good state of repair and cleanliness. Make sure supplies, tools and materials do not get lost when under their watch.
• Maintains inventory and requests cleaning supplies and materials needed to accomplish assigned tasks.
• Maintains awareness of the facility and equipment to detect and prevent injuries or damage.
• Secure building when facilities are not in use. Check for unlocked doors and windows and report any unauthorized occupants.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

 Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent qualification.
• At least 2 years general custodian experience.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to respond to directives.
• Willingness to work overtime including evenings, holidays, and weekends to resolve emergencies.
• Required to stand, be on feet, and move around for a full work shift.
• Be physically able to perform lifting and rigorous manual duties.
• Bilingual (Fluent in Spanish and English language) preferred.
• Must pass criminal and child abuse clearances as related to PA childcare regulations. Annual physical and TB testing is a must.
• Be able to deal effectively with people, especially residents and site staff.
• Ability to use ticket tracking software.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, be on fee, climb steps and move around during full work shift.
