Department Overview
The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at OHSU specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of digestive and liver diseases. Our physicians and advanced practice providers are nationally recognized leaders in education, research, and clinical care. As the only academic medical center in Oregon, we have a collaborative relationship with primary care and subspecialty providers across the state and Pacific Northwest. Many gastroenterologists throughout the region completed their training in our Division and partner with us to provide the latest advances in clinical care.
OHSU is a 562-bed hospital with a 128 bed expansion set to open in April 2026 and a state-of-the-art inpatient endoscopy unit set to open in September 2025.
Function/Duties of Position
The GI Hospitalist/Assistant Professor will provide consultative care for patients admitted to OHSU. The General GI consult service is supported by a GI fellow and a skilled and experienced advanced practice provider (NP/PA). Clinical duties will primarily consist of providing patient care on the inpatient consult service, Ambulatory endoscopy, and urgent GI clinic.
Duties include:

- Supervising the inpatient consult service
- Ambulatory endoscopy and urgent GI clinic
- The ambulatory clinic will mostly focus on new and urgent outpatient referrals and urgent post-discharge follow-up care
- 2 days of administrative time each week during ambulatory weeks
- During attending rotations, you will be expected to supervise Gl fellows, complete all inpatient Gl consultations, and perform endoscopic procedures on inpatients and complex outpatients at the hospital endoscopy unit or ICU. During the attending rotation, you will not have other outpatient obligations and will receive full credit for the outpatient clinics
Required Qualifications
- Individual must be board certified in Gastroenterology
- Hold a valid Oregon medical license
