Job Description Summary

The Palliative and Advanced Illness Research (PAIR) Center is seeking a full-time clinical research coordinator (CRC) to support a portfolio of projects focused on the development of effective, equitable, and transparent clinical informatics and decision support tools to improve care and outcomes for seriously ill patients. These projects include: (1) a study involving the use of a clinical decision support system (CDSS) for older adults in primary care clinics to promote diagnostic excellence; (2) a study of a population health management CDSS for community-dwelling patients with a chronic lung disease; and (3) a study to develop, validate, and evaluate a CDSS for patients receiving invasive mechanical ventilation in the intensive care unit. The CRC will join a multidisciplinary team working to improve clinical decision making through artificial intelligence and machine learning methods. Gary Weissman, MD, MSHP provides faculty leadership of this team. Under the supervision of Dr. Weissman and a senior clinical research coordinator, the CRC will be responsible for screening, recruiting, and consenting eligible patients, caregivers, and clinicians for participation in the research studies. Working with this diverse group of individuals, including family members and patients with life-altering illness, will require excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The CRC will also be responsible for facilitating use of CDSSs by patients and clinicians, including setting up the CDSS prior to study visits. Other CRC responsibilities will include administering surveys to participants, issuing payment to participants, and attending regular team meetings. The CRC may also be responsible for various day-to-day study operations including establishing and maintaining study databases, compliance with all IRB and regulatory documentation, and assisting with the preparation of materials to disseminate study results as needed.
Experienced candidates will have the opportunity to contribute to work across other projects in Dr. Weissman’s portfolio and/or work closely with and provide supervision of students based on interest.
