Train and mentor employees with less experience. Review technical work of others. Perform any other work necessary in support of Mitsubishi Power America’s service business, fulfilling contractual obligations and business development programs.
Key Responsibilities
The individual must be able to perform as a technical lead for the following activities, which includes combination of self-performing the work, and/or guiding, mentoring and reviewing the work of others:
- Prepare thermodynamic models using industry software of combined cycle power plants or subsets of combined cycle power plants using any combination of design information and/or operating plant data.
- Evaluate thermal performance of overall cycles and individual equipment utilizing thermodynamic and fluid mechanics engineering principles demonstrated through hand and computer calculations.
- Evaluate impact of gas turbine performance upgrades on steam cycle components (HRSG, steam turbine, pumps and heat rejection systems) and to the cycle as a whole, including cycle impact on power, heat rate and heat rejection. Determine existing equipment limits. Where necessary, make recommendations for modifications to steam cycle equipment to expand equipment limits.
- Evaluate impact of gas turbine performance upgrades on GT and ST generators.
- Coordinate with internal groups and external vendors of power plant equipment to evaluate, define and obtain proposals for modifications to steam cycle components.
- Determine the causes of steam cycle performance losses through diagnostic analysis of operational data for both steady-state and transient operation, along with physical inspection results of plant components as required.
- Respond to engineering service requests from internal and external customers.
- Interface with internal and external customers in office meetings and on site to effectively represent Mitsubishi Power by demonstrating technical expertise and customer sensitivity in order to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction.
