Description

Position Summary:
The Visual or Performing Arts (VAPA) Teacher will be responsible for implementing a well-planned
and a developmentally appropriate visual or performing arts program according to the California Visual or Performing Arts Framework for students in grades TK–5. The teacher will provide instruction in multiple modalities across the visual and performing arts, which can include: dance, music, media arts, theater, visual arts, painting, sculpture, photography, craft arts, creative expression, including graphic arts and design, computer coding, animation, music composition, ensembles, costume design, and film and video. The goal is to foster creativity, cultural appreciation, and artistic expression while supporting students’ academic and social-emotional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging TK–5 arts lessons aligned with the California Visual and Performing Arts Framework.
  • Teach across multiple modalities, including dance, music, theater, visual arts, media arts, and digital arts.
  • Foster creativity, cultural appreciation, and self-expression in a safe, inclusive environment.
  • Integrate arts with core academics and collaborate with staff to support schoolwide arts initiatives.
  • Organize and present student performances, exhibitions, and community events.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain art materials, instruments, and equipment while ensuring safety.
  • Engage in professional development to stay current with arts education best practices.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree
  • Valid CA teaching credential
  • United States work authorization
  • Teaching experience (preferred)
