The Role
Moderna is expanding our footprint to Seattle to further our mission of delivering the greatest possible impact to people through mRNA medicines! Our new technology hub in Seattle will focus on software product development for our Commercial, Data & Machine Learning, Cloud Infrastructure, Security, and Engineering Excellence (dev tools) products and platforms.
We are looking to hire Software Development Engineers (SDEs) to develop their careers at Moderna, who bring strong technical expertise, a product mindset that embodies the unique Moderna Mindsets, and passion to change the future of medicine. In this role, you will work on exciting, cutting-edge technology initiatives/products from the ground up to empower our technology roadmap across the organization, with the ultimate goal of transforming patients’ lives.
Our program starts on July 15, 2024 and ends on December 13, 2024. All applicants must be available to work full-time for the entire duration of the program and must be willing to relocate to Seattle, WA.
Here’s What You’ll Do:
Deliver code enhancements for software builds which may include refactoring or deprecating existing code
Demonstrate an understanding of the business and customer value of the assigned software;
Function partially to fully independently with regular checkpoints including code reviews and daily standup
Deliver code successfully with clear instructions from your team and manager
Develop working code based on given a functional definition of a problem such as the inputs, outputs, and logic
Understand how to separate disparate components from each other and seek guidance from teammates or your manager when building software with more than one component
Understand common tradeoffs among aspects of the code bar such as efficiency versus maintainability
Correctly utilize the core or standard library of your programming language(s)
Successfully collaborate with team members using best-in-industry software engineering tools and processes such as source control and code review you learn from feedback on your code
Follow an established procedure to diagnose and identify the root cause of problems with exiting software
Communicate effectively to your team about timelines to deliver your work efficiently and reliability
Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)
2+ years Undergraduate Studies in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
Indefinite right to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.
Willing and able to relocate to Seattle, WA for the co-op.
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)
Must be currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor’s degree program in IT, Biotechnology, Engineering, or a related life science discipline.
Familiarity with java script/type script frameworks like node js, and angular js.
Understanding of Agile product development methodology
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Hands-on coding skill and inquisitive attitude, with a willingness to ask questions and seek answers.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a passion for continuous learning.
Strong ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent cross-discipline communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong desire to proactively form new relationships and work effectively within a diverse team.
