Job Description

The ATE Maintenance Technician works independently to perform preventive, predictive, and routine maintenance tasks. Capable of troubleshooting in-depth technical issues, repair failures of testers and associated test equipment, and ensures maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness. 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Performs in-depth repair and maintenance of all ATE (automated test equipment).
  • Implements and oversees the execution of the preventive maintenance program.
  • Repairs or replaces control devices.
  • Performs inspections, calibration and tester adjustments.
  • Identifies maintenance-related deficiencies and provides timely resolution plans.
  • Tool handling, safety, and control.
  • Provides technical training to test operators and subordinates.
  • Advises and reports to management on overall condition of equipment.
  • May perform weekly SPCs and works with established protocols.
  • Maintains specified records of test data and ensures Good Documentation Practices.
  • Protects confidential information and proprietary processes.

This role is located in Santa Clara, CA. While we are unable to provide relocation assistance, we encourage local candidates to apply.

Work Schedule: Mondays to Fridays: 8am-5pm 

    Qualifications

     Education and Experience:

    • AS degree in related field or 5+ years in equivalent work experience. Post-secondary education and /or a technical trade certificate are an asset.
    • Must have relevant experience in troubleshooting semiconductor test equipment. 
    • Understanding of IT network systems. 
    • Understanding of Linx, Windows based ATE test systems.

    Job Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

    • Familiar with quality system documents and complies with all system requirements.
    • Manual dexterity and a high degree of comprehension of mechanical and electrical theories.
    • Ability to effectively communicate and report complex theories verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents/schematics and drawings
    • Expertise and proficiency with basic office computer software, and the effective use of maintenance software to input data and research parts.
    • Excellent relationship-building skills.

    Highly Desired Skill and Knowledge:

    • Hands-on experience with ATE equipment such as Teradyne J750, Ultraflex or Advantest 93K.
    • Experienced with Handlers and Probers: Seiko Epson handler, Opus2/3, TSk or TEL, pogo & direct dock.
    • Basic understanding of the test floor operation: Tester, Test program, test data, handler, prober, Loadboard, Probe card, sockets.
    • Familiar with Windows OS, Unix/Linux OS environment, file structures.
    • Test Equipment: PM/Calibration.
    • Temperature controller: Basic theory.
    • ESD basic theory.
    • Test system setup, repair, calibration and reconfiguration.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to continuously operate a personal computer or lab equipment for extended periods (4+ hours).
    • Ability to operate a keyboard and other lab equipment, use a telephone, access file cabinets and other items stored at various levels, including overhead.
    • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 80% of the time.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and understandably in normal conversational distance, over the telephone, and in group settings.
    • Ability to handle small and fragile devices with tweezers and/or fingers.
    • Require close-distance visual acuity with or without correction (glasses, contacts, etc.).
    • Must be willing and able to wear PPE such as respirator, hard-hat, steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, laboratory coat, and other required devices or equipment.
    • Ability to learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, and make timely decisions in workflow contexts.
    • Ability to move equipment or items up to 50 lbs.
