Role Description:
The FinOps team are a group of Cloud specialists who help the business understand, optimise, and operate cloud usage from a finance point of view. Our key area of focus is aligning to business requirements to improve profitability by making effective use of our investment in cloud.
Key Responsibilities:
The team is seeking a Finance and planning specialist to:
Improve plan management to capture forecasts for application usage and help application teams understand blue sky and black swan events.
Drive an improved cultural attitude where cost against performance opportunities are sought by application teams so that unit metrics can be created to control and advertise cloud business value creation.
Support Finance & Procurement teams with reporting and PO management where simplifying billing data enables improved customer and regulator reports.
Share with Architecture & Design teams FinOps best-practice and benchmark experience to improve long-term decision making.
Required Skills:
Good English language verbal and written communication skills crucial.
Hold a certification in one of the major cloud providers technologies above foundation level, or hold a degree in Mathematics, Finance, Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent.
Familiarity with the FinOps Foundation framework and an understanding of what it means to reach “run” maturity.
Deep understanding of common financial terms, key drivers, and concepts that Technology, Finance, Procurement, Accounts Payable and Receivable teams use day-to-day is crucial.
Prior public cloud experience is helpful to this role, but training will be given where required.
A proven eagerness to learn the latest industrial trends and an ability to translate how these technologies can help our vision will recognise our team as class leading.
