About the Position 
This position is located at the Goodyear Proving Grounds in San Angelo, Texas, and is responsible for providing technical and engineering leadership in support of both daily operations and developing future testing capabilities and supporting technologies.  The work will vary from day to day and may include but not be limited to:  identifying and evaluating potential equipment, processes, and capabilities for vehicle based tire testing; leading the collaborative development and implementation of new test procedures, test hardware, and facilities to fulfill the PG missions;  and provide expertise in the troubleshooting and repair of current test and support systems as necessary.  The incumbent will also provide mentoring and training for less experienced associates.
 

Primary Responsibilities
•    Leverage a deep understanding of tire test procedures, processes, equipment, and data systems to identify and evaluate potential improvement opportunities
•    Assess current capabilities, projects, processes, programming, and equipment relative to mission needs and Bold Goals to identify gaps.  Develop and propose solutions to close gaps.
•    Identify and lead Inter-laboratory testing cross-checks to assure global alignment and accuracy.
•    Quantify testing precision using statistical analysis tools including Test Variation analysis, Gauge R&R analysis, and Measurement Uncertainty studies.
•    Utilize good project management techniques to lead collaborative projects to improve proving grounds capabilities and capacities and close performance gaps.  
•    Lead Technology and Capability development projects as necessary
•    Create or modify data acquisition, analysis, control, and reporting programs as necessary.
•    Collaborate with local, global, and external programming resources to assure data and control software and hardware remain current, effective, and secure.
•    Mentor and coach less experienced associates.
•    Ensure testing readiness through data driven monitoring and health evaluation of equipment and test surfaces.
•    Diagnose and resolve malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components of electro-mechanical systems.
•    Propose and implement processes and procedures to improve equipment and surface uptime.
 

Required Education and Experience 
•    BS in relevant STEM field and 6 or more years of relevant experience or an advanced STEM degree and 4 or more years relevant experience.
•    Lean, Six Sigma, Project Management certification(s) desired. 
•    Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and participate in multiple projects simultaneously.
•    Vehicle based performance testing of tires (preferred) or vehicle components. 
•    Tire experience preferred.
 

Skills and Abilities
•    Attention to detail and effective time management and organizational skills.
•    VBA / C++ programming experience preferred.
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
•    Proficiency in statistical design and analysis, cause and effect analysis, and risk analysis.
•    AutoCad design experience preferred.
