Position Summary

The International Education Events & Marketing Coordinator engages CUWAA's domestic and international students directly in order to broaden cultural awareness, build cultural competence, and develop global citizens, as part of campus internationalization efforts. This position is part-time (0.6 FTE) and reports directly to the Assistant Vice President for International Affairs.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate social media platforms for marketing university international programs and cultural events.
  • Design, develop, and lead supportive international student activities to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for international students and scholars.
  • Plan, oversee, and execute quality campus-wide cultural programming activities on behalf of the Concordia International Center to grow campus internationalization efforts.
  • Assist with new international student orientations, workshops, and trainings.
  • Serve as staff advisor to the International Student Club.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Understanding and awareness of cross-cultural differences and sensitivities, preferably working with non-native English speakers.
  • Experience creating social media strategy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail which include effective planning, time management and project management.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings.
  • Ability to work effectively and collegially with others
  • Supportive of the mission and values of Concordia University Wisconsin/Ann Arbor and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS)

Education & Experience

  • A bachelor's degree and prior experience living, working or studying abroad.
  • Experience in international education, student services, or related area.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license.

Compensation & Benefits

This is a part-time (24 hours per week), non-exempt position. Starting wage may be determined upon education and/or experience. Benefits associated with this position include the Concordia Disability and Survivor plan and the Concordia Retirement plan, as well as a tuition waiver benefit.
