Location: This role requires associates to be in-office 3 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. This approach combines structured office engagement with the autonomy of virtual work, promoting a dynamic and adaptable workplace. The Carelon Solutions Innovation Director is responsible for leading the clinical digital transformation strategy across Clinical Operations, advancing AI-enabled capabilities, modernizing clinical workflows, and improving operational performance. This role aligns enterprise clinical priorities with digital, technology, and AI initiatives and executes a multi-year roadmap that strengthens Utilization Management, Care Management, and Whole Health while improving the member and provider experience.
How you will make an impact:
Leads the development and execution of Carelon Health's enterprise solution innovation strategy by identifying and advancing digital, AI-enabled, and technology-driven capabilities that improve clinical decision-making, operational performance, and business outcomes.
Partners across Carelon Digital, Enterprise AI, and Technology teams to design, pilot, scale, and operationalize innovative solutions that support Utilization Management, Care Management, and other clinical programs.
Provides strategic analytic and business insight to identify transformation opportunities, evaluate market trends, measure innovation outcomes, and support executive decision-making across the Carelon Health enterprise.
Leads cross-functional initiatives focused on workflow modernization, intelligent automation, process optimization, and continuous improvement to enhance member, provider, and associate experiences.
Investigates and manages complex internal and external issues, including provider, clinical, regulatory, and business partnership inquiries, while developing executive-level recommendations and driving organizational alignment.
Applies Lean, Agile, and continuous improvement methodologies across clinical operations.
Provides executive leadership, governance, and oversight for strategic initiatives, enterprise partnerships, project teams, and external consultants to ensure successful implementation, adoption, and measurable business value.
Minimum Requirements:
Requires a BA/BS degree in a related area and a minimum of 10 years of increasingly responsible business and professional experience including 3 years of leadership experience in a related field; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experience:
Master's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Nursing, Health Informatics, or a related discipline preferred.
Experience leading enterprise digital transformation, innovation strategy, or technology-enabled healthcare initiatives, including artificial intelligence, automation, predictive analytics, or generative AI solutions at scale preferred.
Demonstrated experience partnering with Digital, Product Management, Technology, Engineering, Clinical Operations, and executive leadership to develop and operationalize innovative healthcare solutions across complex matrixed organizations preferred.
Strong knowledge of Utilization Management, Care Management, value-based care, clinical operations, healthcare strategy, and business process redesign with experience driving measurable operational excellence through Lean, Six Sigma, Agile, or continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
Proven ability to build strategic partnerships, influence senior executives without direct authority, establish governance frameworks, and successfully lead cross-functional transformation initiatives that deliver measurable business value preferred.
