1st Shift Welder

Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, performs a variety of duties to include welding and fabrication according to the production schedule as well as the proper execution of tasks and general housekeeping/safety functions. 

Key Responsibilities

•      Meet and perform all TIG welder requirements. Weld as schedule dictates.•      Operates various equipment to fabrication parts and sheet metal as needed•      Assists in training new employees.•      Monitors schedules and requests adjustments from supervisor as necessary. •      Makes adjustments to equipment or process as necessary and within established procedures. •      Makes job assignments as necessary and within established procedures.•      Maintains “team” environment within area of responsibilities. •      Assists in securing materials as required.•      Maintains proper records and reports.•      Communicates to Supervisors/Manager on any unusual conditions.•      Comply with policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements per Franklin Fueling Systems.•      Follow detailed assembly instructions, processes, and procedures.•      Report problems with quality, process, equipment, and materials to Production Supervisor.•      Maintains a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions.•      Meets daily production schedule as assigned.•      Actively participates in the production of product as needed.  •      Performs other duties as required or assigned.·         Assists in training new employees.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

Skills and Abilities•      Ability to effectively communicate with all production floor employees. •      Works with various hand and power tools.•      Understanding and application of TIG welding techniques.•      Reads and understands documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.•      Utilizes common sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral, or diagrammed instructions.•      Provides accurate work on a consistent basis meeting precise tolerances and standards.•      Interpersonal skills sufficient to work closely with others on a team.•      Ability to demonstrate flexibility in work environment performing a variety of frequently changing tasks.•      Ability to work alone effectively under stress and in situations dangerous to self or others.•      Completes some moderately repetitive tasks. Education and Experience•      High School Diploma or Equivalent (required).•      Six months or more experience working in a manufacturing type position (TIG welding required, fabrication and machining skills preferred).  Certificates and Licenses•      None PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES•      While performing the functions of this job, the employee is:o    Continually required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 10 lbs.; stand.o    Regularly required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 30 lbs.; push or pull; walk.o    Occasionally required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.; sit; ascend or descend ladders, stairs, or ramps; turn wrenches, valves, or handles; bend or twist; use upper extremities; reach above shoulders; reach to full extension.•      The employee must continually lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.•      Specific vision abilities required by this job include regular peripheral viewing; viewing length changes; close viewing with depth perception; and occasional distance viewing.•      Specific hearing abilities required by this job include the need to perceive the spoken voice clearly and the need to hear warning signals up to 70dbs with or without assistance.•      Specific speech abilities regularly required by this job include comprehensible speech.The company will make reasonable accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions and expectations. WORK ENVIRONMENT•      This position is subjected to harmful environmental conditions and is located in a manufacturing type environment.•      The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.•      This position is Frequently exposed to extreme heat, vibration, and moving mechanical hazard; and Infrequently exposed to wet/humid conditions.•      This job consists of shift work up to 8 hours per day and may be required to work overtime as needed.
