Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Project Manager/Senior Dam Engineer to support geotechnical, civil infrastructure, and dams projects as part of the industry leading Dam Engineering Team in Oakland, CA. The candidate will be responsible for leading multi-disciplinary project teams in developing solutions for key clients. Our senior technical leads and experts will be available and engaged to provide guidance and mentorship to the candidate, to facilitate integration with the team and development of opportunities for professional growth.  In the role of Project Manager, you will also have the opportunity to be engaged with all phases of project development and delivery, and will serve as a key team member contributing to the success and growth of the business. 

Ideal candidates will have the following types of skills and experience:

  • Project management experience working with water infrastructure clients on major infrastructure projects including dams.
  • Proven ability to deliver technical solutions on complex projects and assignments, with high client satisfaction, including a demonstrated understanding of project management principles and practices.
  • Experience as lead engineer on mid- to large size projects, including approving and signing off on work products and deliverables.
  • Specialized technical education and expertise applicable to both studies and real-world designs.
  • Experience managing and supervising staff, including developing and monitoring work assignments and reviewing work developed by others.
  • Experience in business development and preparation of technical proposals, including development of estimates for engineering budgets and schedules on large projects.

Your background and experience should enable you to confidently work directly with clients and to develop and win new work assignments.  You should also be able to roll up your sleeves to help develop and deliver quality technical solutions for our clients.  This position represents an opportunity to further develop your skills managing teams of project professionals, while also establishing and executing successful project delivery strategies. Your experience covering all phases of the project lifecycle will help to facilitate further growth of the Team as we expand our services across the region.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS in Civil Engineering or related study + 8 years of relevant experience OR demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • California Professional Civil Engineer (PE) License OR equivalent from another State with California registration in process and ability to complete within 6 months.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15 years of relevant experience covering the full range of dam projects including planning, condition assessment, investigation, design, construction, and project management. 
  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field. 
  • Heavy civil construction design experience
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Business development for new and existing clients, including preparation of engineering services proposals, cost estimates, and schedules.
  • Experience managing and supervising engineering staff.
