Job Overview:

Valmet Quality Management System is globally leading platform for scanners, measurements, profilers, controls, and machine vision. The research, development, assembly, and testing for Valmet IQ products is in-house within the Tampere premises. The products are mission-critical systems, due to which the commitment to performance and quality is a must. 

We are searching for a rising talent, or a senior software engineer, to participate in developing with cutting edge technologies.  This is a great opportunity for both junior and seasoned software engineers, to advance as a distinguished R&D professional in the exciting field of automation. The areas of responsibility are adjusted according to the experience of the applicant, e.g., from real-time operating systems to system deployment under new technology platform.

You have background in C/C++ and have a hands-on approach when solving problems. You are familiar with Linux OS, as your daily tasks will include working with light-weight Linux distribution aimed for embedded systems. You perform well both in independent work and as part of a team of experts. You will be placed in Tampere where we have strong presence of R&D, and you have the support of half a dozen team members working with the same products.

Expectations

To be successful in this position:

• Background in designing and developing software using C/C++

• Passion for software development and eagerness to learn

• Understanding of bash scripting in Linux environment

• Experience in Git and related version control systems

Preferred additional qualification:

• Build & Integration experience from previous software projects

• Knowledge and experience with Linux drivers

• Experience and general knowledge of embedded electronics
