Pratt & Whitney is seeking a proactive, goal oriented, and detail focused Principal Project Engineer to lead a large and highly-visible Rotors Integrated Product Team in Compression Systems Engineering.  The selected candidate will provide leadership to the High Compressor Module team for Adaptive Military Engines.  In this role, you will be responsible for development program task execution: defining risk mitigation plans, supporting engines and rigs build/testing, conducting pre and post-test hardware inspection, and manage government customer reviews and documentation. The candidate must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, motivate others to share the goals and visions of the team, provide technical guidance, empower the design team, and be able to effectively communicate to all levels of P&W and the supply base.

What You Will Do

  • Coordinate and lead an Agile Scrum team as Product Owner to meet task and technical requirements; work closely with team members and authorities on part development and recommend product improvements and identify and address project problems, analyze data gathered, develop solutions and recommendations to solve problems, meet deadlines and optimize performance.
  • Communicate status and technical content to CIPT, upper Pratt & Whitney management, and external customers.
  • Perform Control Account Manager duties for task: Track progress, identify and resolve obstacles to minimize disruption to project budget and schedules to ensure smooth project operations.
  • Integrate and manage part-level sourcing activities with procurement, industrial, and manufacturing team members and the internal/external supply chain also coordinate timely creation/release of model-based product definition.
  • Perform risk assessments and develop risk mitigation plans as well as actively participate in initiatives for continuous improvement.
  • Travel up to 10%

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or in a related field and 8+ years prior relevant engineering experience OR
  • Advanced Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or in a related field and 5+ years prior relevant engineering experience.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  •  U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Demonstrated strong team and strategic leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated exceptional customer focus.
  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal, technical writing, and engineering presentations to all levels of management.
  • Aerospace/ jet engine industry experience, previous gas turbine compressor experience and design development experience is highly desirable
  • Experience with gas turbine engine rotating hardware
  • Experience in a team leader role or similar task leadership position
  • Working proficiency with MS Office, Teamcenter, SAP, Smartsheets, MS Project or other scheduling software.
  • Well-developed leadership skills and networking ability
  • Experience in Agile Project Management, including Scrum and Kanban.
  • Experience working with Confluence and Jira software packages.
  • Thorough understanding of continuous improvement principles (e.g. Customer Oriented Results and Excellence (CORE), Quality Control Proc
