Job Summary

The Inpatient Pediatrics Department at Denver Health is recruiting for a APP Supervisor to join our team. The Inpatient Pediatrics APP (Advanced Practice Provider) Supervisor is responsible for departmental leadership, mentorship, collaboration, and a commitment to clinical excellence. The APP Supervisor will serve as a leader for all Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants who deliver clinical care in the Department of Inpatient Pediatrics. The APP Supervisor will provide overall strategic leadership for APP and be an active participant in strategic planning, recruitment, scheduling, high quality clinical services, professional performance, regulatory compliance, medical education, patient experience, and act as a champion to promote positive departmental culture and employee engagement. This role will provide the highest quality patient care consistent while monitoring clinical outcomes and patient safety.

Clinically, the APP Supervisor will work with staff and physicians to provide healthcare to patients. They will examine and diagnose patients and develop treatment plans. Additionally, will perform testing, referral to physicians as needed, and performs procedures within the scope of expertise, protocols and available equipment.

Essential Functions:

  • Clinical Expectations: Participate in clinical shifts. Lead and participate in clinical quality initiatives focused on evidence-based practices, guideline adherence, improving the patient experience, preventing, and responding to patient safety events, improving scheduling processes, and enhancing systems of care. Ensure that appropriate quality and safety improvement metrics are established, maintained, and reported. Optimize operational efficiency. Maintain departmental regulatory compliance. Disseminate practice standards to APPs, trainees, and staff involved in inpatient pediatric services. (80%)
  • Administrative Expectations: Oversee the professional, clinical, and educational activities of the department’s APPs. Ensure a culture of open dialogue and 360-degree feedback with all staff, promote healthy team norms, and develop pathways to support staff and promote wellness. Promote a culture of diversity and inclusion within the Department of Inpatient Pediatrics. They will also promote and support a system of recruitment, development, and succession planning for APPs and other staff leadership positions, with a focus on developing opportunities for professional advancement for APPs. Promote implementation of and adherence to standardized clinical workflows.

    They will establish open dialogue, welcome constructive criticism, and demonstrate timely responsiveness, maintain appropriate levels of transparency and respectful accountability while effectively managing disagreements among staff. (20%)


Education:

  • Master's Degree Graduate of an accredited educational program for either Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners. Required


Work Experience:

  • 1-3 years Minimum 1-3 years of experience as a clinical Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in an integrated health system setting Required


Licenses:

  • BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association or American Red Cross Required and
  • PALS-Pediatric Advanced Life Support - AHA - American Heart Association Required and
  • NP-Nurse Practitioner - AANPCB - American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board Required or
  • PA-Physician Assistant - State Medical Board Required


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • A strong communicator who inspires and effectively communicates with wide and diverse audiences.
  • Ability to use data and metrics to support key decisions.
  • A strong understanding of the realities of healthcare delivery within academic, teaching and/or safety net hospital environments.
  • A systems thinker with the proven ability to navigate and execute in a healthcare organization.

Posted salary below is reflective of a NNP Supervisor. If the selected candidate is a general APP supervisor range will be:
$113,400 - $127,500
