Job Summary
The Medical Underwriting Support Coordinator undergoes training with a mentor to learn the basics of underwriting of Accident, Critical Illness, Disability, Hospital Indemnity. This includes understanding how to underwrite employer group coverage, determining eligibility based on application, product, state signed, etc., and utilizing all other applicable sources to make underwriting decisions.

  • Maintain understanding of the basic framework of our processing systems to move work properly.
  • Maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers through effective communication.
  • Process and underwrite specialty products and projects as assigned.
  • Make risk selection decisions in a quality, timely, and productive manner.
  • Make underwriting decisions as assigned.
  • Accurate documentation of group plan design, participation, and rating during annual group product anniversary renewal review
  • Suggests business process improvements to gain efficiency within the role.
  • Provides feedback at team meetings as well as contributes to learning topics as assigned
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively is a requirement of the role. *

Skills and Background You’ll Need
• 1+ years of relevant underwriting or related field experience (Preferred).
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Please note - the salary range for this role is listed below. In addition to salary, our package includes incentive plan participation and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits, as well as an initial PTO accrual of 164 hours per year. Employees also receive 11 paid holidays and 2 wellness days per year.

 

  • Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on various factors, including individual and organizational performance.

Salary Range:

21.27 - 28.25
