About the role

We are seeking a dependable and experienced Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join our team.  This multifaceted role supports both clinical care and logistical operations in a dynamic, fast-paced orthopedic surgical environment. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and excels in a highly collaborative surgical setting.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Assist nursing staff with preoperative and postoperative patient care in a fast-paced Same Day Surgery environment.

    • Obtain and record patient vital signs, height, weight, and pain levels upon admission and discharge.

    • Prepare patients for surgery by ensuring proper identification, gowning, and comfort.

    • Assist with patient hygiene, mobility, and activities of daily living as needed.

    • Assist with patient transport, positioning, and preparation before and after surgery.

    • Ensure patient safety and comfort during pre-op and post-op transitions.

    • Transport patients safely to and from pre-op, OR, PACU, and discharge areas.

    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient care areas, operating rooms, stretchers, and equipment.

    • Assist with turning over operating rooms between cases, including waste removal, surface cleaning, and linen changes.

    • Stock and prepare OR suites and patient care areas with necessary surgical and anesthesia supplies and equipment.

    • Set up and maintain anesthesia machines and equipment before, during, and after procedures.

    • Adhere to infection control, sterilization, and patient safety standards at all times.

    • Document patient care activities accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record.

    • Communicate effectively with nursing, surgical, and anesthesia teams to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care.

    • Provide compassionate, patient-centered support to individuals and families throughout their surgical experience.

Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.

    • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required (or ability to obtain upon hire).

    • Previous experience as an OR tech, anesthesia tech, orderly, or related role highly preferred
    • Ability to lift, transport, and position patients safely.

    • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

    • Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
