Description:
The intern will have an opportunity to learn protein purification skills while working in a biotech R&D setting with cross-functional groups. The intern will conduct experiments to evaluate protein purification strategies to support process development of therapeutic protein candidates at bench scale. Protein purification techniques may include liquid chromatography, such as ion exchange and/or affinity, as well as filtration, ultrafiltration and diafiltration. Protein analysis will be performed using techniques such as SDS PAGE and UV-Vis spectroscopy. The intern will participate in experimental design and analysis of data. The intern will give an inter-departmental presentation of their work at the conclusion of the internship.
Requirements:
- School experience: Rising Junior, Senior or graduate student pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical/Biochemical Engineering or equivalent.
- Candidate must currently have GPA of 3.00 or higher.
- Basic skills necessary: Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Lab skills preferred: Maintaining a notebook, pipetting, making solutions and buffers
