Ethics and Compliance Manager will plan, direct, or coordinate activities of an organization to ensure compliance with ethical or regulatory standards. Report violations of compliance or regulatory standards to duly authorized enforcement agencies as appropriate or required. Identify compliance issues requiring follow-up or investigation. Discuss emerging compliance issues to ensure management and employees are informed about compliance reporting systems, policies, and practices. File appropriate compliance reports with regulatory agencies and maintain documentation of compliance activities (complaints received or investigation outcomes, etc.). Review and evaluation of compliance issues/concerns. Implement programs to create compliance sustainability within the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC). Direct, monitor, and report compliance efforts on behalf of the County and work with senior management to ensure effective program compliance. Employee supervision includes hire selection, training oversight, performance assessment, coaching, disciplinary, and termination actions.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Conduct internal reviews and/or audits to ensure that ethic/compliance issues are addressed and resolved related to unethical or improper conduct; collect, aggregate and analyze data regarding compliance matters. 2. Manage and supervise employees and programs including allocate work, training staff, evaluate employee performance and recommend employee discipline. 3. Respond to and ensure that ethics/compliance issues and concerns within the jail are being appropriately evaluated, investigated and resolved. 4. Collaborate with MDC employees and/or other departments on related ethics/compliance matters related to the prevention of illegal, unethical or improper conduct. 5. Explain, justify and defend MDC programs, policies and activities; negotiate and resolve sensitive and controversial issues. 6. Design, identify and implement improvements in communication, monitoring or enforcement of compliance standards; develop and implement quality control procedures and improve on existing standards. 7. Represent MDC to other divisions, departments, elected officials and outside agencies under the direction of the Director of Policy and Compliance. 8. Work with appropriate staff to develop effective ethic/compliance training programs for employees and managers. 9. Represent the organization in meetings with key stakeholders, elected officials and other department directors. 10. Oversee the preparation of reports related to the activities of the ethic/compliance section. 11. Respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive citizen inquiries and complaints. 12. Ensure the development, communication, implementation and training of Bernalillo County's Emergency Operations Plan (EOP). Authorize the execution of the EOP, directing and ensuring adequate resources are provided to best protect residents, employees and property of the County's jurisdiction. 13.
